Dango no Miyoshi

When you get out of ” Motosumiyoshi ” station (west exit), walk Bremen street. You will find this shop. This shop is located approx. 400 meters from the station.

I think it is worth visiting.

When I visited, many students bought dango at this shop. Therefore this shop had a friendly atmosphere.

Yaki-dango was sold for 70 yen (as of Sept.2021), it’s an affordable price !!

I bought Lemon-Dango (90 yen: as of Sept.2021) and Ohagi-Tsubu (110 yen: as of Sept.2021). Lemon-Dango is in the right side of picture.

It was the first time for me to eat Lemon-Dango. This dango was exceeding my expectation and it was very delicious !!!

It has a moderate sweetness and you can enjoy the texture of lemon peel. It also has a slight bitterness and this increases deliciousness.

Dango is a made from rice flour mixed with uruchi rice flour and glutinous rice flour.

The above picture is Ohagi (Tsubu). It’s slightly sweet and nice!

Ohagi is made with rice and sweet azuki paste (red bean paste). It’s believed that red color (red bean) could dispel evil sprits. Therefore Ohagi is sometimes eaten as a sacred food.

Hachi no ya – motosumiyoshi

The “Hachi no ya” has its main shop in Jiyugaoka. In motosumiyoshi shop, there are original products which are sold only in this shop. “Hachi no ya” means a house of bee.

The appearance and interior of this shop are very elegant !

There is a special product which is sold only on 8th of every month. (*8 is pronounced “Hachi” in Japanese. Therefore, it might rhymes with “Hachi”as a shop name.)

When I visited this shop on Sept. 8th, the special product was already sold out (>_<).

So I bought “Bremen Dorayaki” which is the original product in this shop. This shop is located in “Bremen street” in Motosumiyoshi.

When I opened this, the fragrant smell of toasted sweet was floating in the air.

The animals of the tale “Town Musicians of Bremen” were branded on top face.

Dorayaki is a type of Japanese confection. It consists of two small pancake-like patties made from castella wrapped around a filling of sweet azuki bean paste.

The Japanese manga and anime character Doraemon loves dorayaki and so it is depicted as his favorite food.

Wikipedia

The pancake of this “Bremen Dorayaki” was soft and I could enjoyed the azuki bean paste sufficiently.

There are various stories about the origin of the name “Dorayaki”.

Let me introduce one story -> “Dora” means “gong (Please refer to the following illustrations)”. The shape of this sweet looks like the shape of “gong” called “Dora”.
